Already Gone

Every once in a while, you encounter a song that feels like an old friend -- "Already Gone" by Zach Cornell establishes that feeling in the first few notes. It perfectly fills the need for a soothing yet emotional musical journey. Part of Cornell's album, Devil's Been Working, "Already Gone" is one of twelve cathartic, earnest songs.

Brought to life at Black Dog Recording Studio in Nashville, Devil's Been Working is Zach Cornell's first full length studio album. Cornell currently lives in Nashville, but is originally from a small town in Texas where he first uncovered his unique Americana sound. "Already Gone" showcases the gentler, subtle side of his style, highlighting light guitar accompaniment and minimally processed vocals. It's as if you're laying on the grass at a park looking up at the sky while one of your pals plays guitar quietly to himself. Faint sounds of harmonica and piano play in the background, underscored by delicate percussion. The balance of instrumentation to voice is wonderfully done, shaping an overall sound that feels resonant yet intimate. Instantly making the listener comfortable, "Already Gone" is the musical equivalent of a much needed sigh of relief.
