The Fountain

Updated: Oct 8, 2021

Redefining the classic break up song, Pet Envy and Luthi’s latest collaboration “The Fountain” personifies the struggle of new beginnings. The electronic, indie pop-rock sound is uplifting and anthemic, despite the deeply personal and emotional backstory.

If I were making an indie movie, this song would be at the top of my list for soundtrack choices. The sound is reminiscent of bands like Capitol Cities and Miniature Tigers with a bit of a rock twist. Produced seamlessly by Owen B. Lewis, “The Fountain” surrounds the listener, making for one of those ‘am I in a movie’ moments. Lead singer of Pet Envy, Shelbi Albert, led the conception of the song after going through a rough breakup. Christian Luthi (of Luthi) found that the concepts behind “The Fountain” really resonated personally and lent an outside perspective, leading to their stellar collaboration. This is Pet Envy’s first ever project with collaborators, not including works made with fellow band members Jake Diggity (songwriter), Matthew Singler (drums), and Jordan Klatt (Keyboards).

Through and through, “The Fountain” has the potential to be one of the next great bounce-back breakup songs. It has a catchy, freeing sound that makes you want to dance, even when you’ve been crying into your ice cream for hours.

Check out “The Fountain“ on Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon now! It’s the perfect song to add to your new fall playlists.
